Holiday plans already?

The Country Store Craft Guild met today to prepare for opening the store for the 48th year. Fifteen members and consigners sell all handmade items in a site downtown from Nov. 1st through Dec. 24th. Today the members got together to show their latest projects and creations and decide which days each of us will work during the holiday season. This meeting is always the final reminder that Christmas is coming once again. Looks like I will be busy tatting, doing Brazilian embroidery, herbal bath packets, crocheted ornaments, potpourri, sewing and quilting once again. Then each week there are baked goods for sale two of the days (no excuse not to get my holiday baking done, is there?

Another term has vanished!

Another term at Kaplan University online has vanished into the books! It seems like only a short time ago I was anxious to get the classes started and now I am reluctant to see them end. Ten weeks in a lifetime just doesn't go very far these days! Hopefully the education I got will take me much further. Alas, nostalgia! I know you well.

Latest Happenings

There is a lot happening with my son, Terry, and his hero dog from Afghanistan, Target. This is the latest TV report from last night.

It mentions the upcoming Oprah Winfrey show and the awards banquet, but not the Readers' Digest article.

It's Getting Close to Finals Week of the Term, Again

As week eight is nearing the end, completing my final papers should be the main thing on my mind, but I have developed a back problem that wants to be in the spotlight. Therefore, all my ways are not going to be easy as I can only work at the computer for shortened periods, I have been to the doctor 4x recently and everything I am able to do... hurts! This is putting a cramp in my style, literally. Today I will be spending another 5 hours away from home as I travel to and from another doctor's appointment that I could really use as time at the computer revising the two final papers. Yes, it's getting too close to finals week of the term, again! Then in the blink of my eye, it will all be history.

I Had a Great Time in AZ

Being able to spend a few days with my 3 grandbabies in San Tan Valley, AZ, was a blast. Their parents went to Chicago to be on the Oprah Winfrey Show with Target (their dog from Afghanistan) and I had the opportunity to deal with heat, homework, huggings and happenings in the lives of my grandchildren ages 4-14. I learned to play Mario Bros. on the wii game...almost. Poor Tavius (age 4) tried to teach me, but finally sighed and told me, "Grandma, I think you are unteachable. Now don't laugh. Try harder. Let's do it again." My reward came hours later when he crawled into bed with us in the middle of the night and proceeded to cuddle Grandpa to the edge of the bed. The girls had homework I could help with, spelling for Mahala, and science on the laptop for Trenedy. That Trenedy had no schoolbooks gave me a strange sensation! Then came the blackout in 108 degrees. It only lasted about 20 minutes but, of course, I was "totally in the dark" as to where to find the flashlights/candles. Memories! Yes, I have plenty of that trip to see my grandbabies. Think I'll go again soon.

Grandbabies or I'll Bust

I fly to Phoenix today to spend a few days caring for my 3 AZ grandbabies while their parents and Target fly to Chicago to do a talk show. Can't wait to see those 3 again! It's been 5 months!
